Just when it seemed like the celebrity-beauty-brand train was slowing down after years of going full-speed ahead, Blake Lively surprised us all yesterday with the launch of a hair-care collection called Blake Brown. And let's be so for real right now: Who wouldn't trust hair products backed by an absolute hair goddess like Lively? But while Lively's long hair has long been a source of inspiration and envy, we think her currently short nails deserve praise, too.
In addition to celebrating her new brand, Lively has been out and about promoting her new film, It Ends With Us. While gallivanting around New York City in whimsical floral dresses, she wore an equally flowery manicure that you might have missed considering it wasn't the lengthy look that serves as the foundation of so much nail art. Instead, her nails barely reached past the edge of her fingertips—but that doesn't mean it's short on elegance.
On Instagram, nail artist Elle Gerstein shared a closeup of one of Lively's hands, revealing a glossy, off-white base with flower-inspired strokes of purple, green, and gold. In the caption, she says that she used the Essie Gel Couture shade Chiffon the Move, and to create the “micro-florals,” she blended a variety of shades like All Checked Out and Blush Jelly for petals with dimension.
“Another quick blend of greens, Off Tropic and Willow in the Wind for the leaves and realistic greenery,” Gerstein wrote. “Finished off with a tiny splash of gold and translucent gold foil for a glamorous effect.”
Mission accomplished: The result is more than just a glamorous effect. It's a manicure elevated enough for Lively to proudly run her fingers through her now well-marketed hair.
