It seems beauty products go viral on TikTok as often as the sun rises, but every once in a while, a product reaches super virality extending far beyond the beauty community on the app — you can usually tell this has happened when you see the trending product used as a hashtag under videos that have nothing to do with it. The most recent product to reach this level of TikTok stardom is Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation. The makeup brand founded by global superstar Lady Gaga has been around since 2019, but this seems to be the brand's first viral product.

With so many foundations on the market, it's hard to believe any one formula is particularly revolutionary, but the millions of videos under the #hauslabsfoundation tag on TikTok beg to differ. One prominent beauty content creator, Audrey Hsu, hailed the product as the "future of foundation" in her review. Others have been marveling at the coverage and airbrushed finish the foundation leaves, plus its impressive shade range.

While scrolling through the hashtag, you'll see creators of vastly different complexions gushing over the product. Lady Gaga herself took notice of the traction and started the "Haus Labs Foundation Challenge" putting out a call for creators to post videos of themselves trying the foundation and sharing their creative makeup looks.

The brand's website has a shade-matching tool to help navigate through the 51 shades ranging from 100 Light Neutral, the lightest, to 590 Deep neutral, the darkest. The formula claims to be suitable for all skin types including sensitive and acne-prone skin. The ingredient list itself is quite interesting — it features two patent-pending formulas: fermented Arnica complex and BioFerment 7 Complex, a concoction of bio-engineered ingredients including fermented Shiunko, green tea, and Licorice Root.

According to cosmetic chemist Ginger King, arnica has a calming effect, Shiunko has skin-healing properties, green tea is packed with antioxidants, and licorice root is for brightening. "This formula is gentle for the skin," she notes. As for why the ingredients are fermented, King explains that "fermented ingredients have a better efficacy as fermentation breaks down the molecule more for better penetration."

I've actually never tried anything from Haus Labs, so it's fitting that my first encounter with the brand would be its most popular product. To test the hype of this viral product I tapped three other Allure editors to try out the Haus Labs foundations and give their honest thoughts.

Allure

Allure's senior commerce writer, Angela Trakoshis, is admittedly a skeptic when it comes to celebrity beauty brands, but to her surprise, Haus Labs got it so right with this foundation. "When I say I really had zero hopes for this foundation, I mean it," she says. "But once this product was blended into my skin, my opinion shifted so quickly."

As someone who can never decide what kind of coverage she wants on any given day, Trakoshis appreciates how buildable the coverage of the foundation is. "For application, I use a trusty ol' Beautyblender, and it blends like a dream, leaving my skin feeling light but with all the coverage I desire."

Allure

Allure's site director, Sam Escobar, is actually a big fan of several other Haus Labs products, so they went in with high hopes for this foundation, which were expectedly met. Escobar notes that the formula delivers buildable coverage, making it ideal for makeup minimalist and full glam lovers alike. "It feels flexible on my skin, blended well with my cheek color (shoutout to the One/Size Blush Trio Palette), and delivered buildable coverage, which was very ideal because my chin and cheeks decided to have a breakout party all week," says Escobar.

Allure

I, for one, am very particular when it comes to foundation. I obnoxiously brag about how clear my skin is and how I don't wear foundation often (those who have survived cystic acne will understand). So when trying out a foundation, it really has to wow me — mainly in the shade match department, because even on my best skin days, my complexion is uneven thanks to lingering hyperpigmentation.

Though I didn't find my perfect match right away (540 Deep Neutral was a bit too dark), I was still able to make it work because of how adaptable the foundation is. I applied three small dots and blended them out with my fingers, which gave my skin a smooth, blurred finish that evened out my complexion and covered my pesky dark spots. Most notably, I love how velvety the formula feels on the skin and how it blends out matte — I have oily skin, so the fact that I wore this all day and didn't look like a grease ball at the end of the day is a testament.

Allure

Senior beauty editor Jesa Marie Caldor actually wore the foundation (which she calls "hardworking") to Lady Gaga's concert at the Metlife Stadium, and after hours of dancing, "my face showed no signs of how sweaty and fun the night was," she recalls. "It did not disappoint with its buildable, comfortable-wearing formula that gave me a dewy — but not greasy — finish."

So it would seem people on the clock app were right again, and we can file this foundation under Lady Gaga's greatest contributions to society, right next to "Just Dance" and the meat dress.

Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation retails for $45 and is available from sephora.com and hauslabs.com
